Official launch of Gdynia Design Centre!

Vernissage of the exhibition "3P- pomeranian design potential" inaugurated the opening of Gdynia Design Centre. We started off with showcasing what's good out there in design in Pomeranian, namely, excellent projects and talented designers. The curators of the exhibition are Agata Kulik-Pomorska & Paweł Pomorski, founders of MALAFOR group.

- When we first got a proposal to organise an exhibition of Pomeranian designers it struck us: „Really? Just from Pomerania?"- said Pawel Pomorski, the curator. It has, however, quickly proved there was more to show than we primarily thought. Pomeranian design potential is both conceptual works of young designers, mostly Academy of Fine Arts graduates, as well as products successfully implemented and already competitive on the market. We exhibit both heavy industry projects like ship design by Adam Krzysztof Bochra, Daniel Januszewski and Ship Architecture Faculty (Pracownia Architektury Okrętów) or trains by MaradDesign group. There are also objects of daily use like office chair designed by Studio 1:1, table Moose by Tabanda group, Heavy Duty shoes, innovative umbrella – a project of Academy of Fine Arts graduate- Natasza Grzeskiewicz, elastic bridle by Małgorzata Szewczyk or alarm systems by SATEL.

Gdynia Design Centre was established as part of Pomeranian Science and Technology Park. It supports the development of creative industry, mainly entrepreneurship and projects related with industrial design, graphic design, multimedia and architecture. At the same time, Gdynia Design Centre coordinates multiple initiatives and happenings associated with design in the city, including participation in international projects, educational enterprises and organisation of exhibitions and events promoting design, such as Gdynia Design Days.
