MpicoSys at the HiPEAC Computing Systems Week

Between 26-28 October 2009 the international HiPEAC Computing Systems Week was held in Wrocław, Poland. The European Network of Excellence on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation (HiPEAC) (uniting top European experts and specialists in scientific and R&D centres in the field of architecture and programming of embedded systems. HiPEAC Computing Systems Week is a three-day meeting of the network's members and its aim is to popularize the R&D activities on the architecture of digital and embedded systems as well as compilation. Another goal of this event was the coordination of HiPEAC network activities as well as the EU research projects connected with it.

On the first day of the conference, devoted to Industrial R&D, representatives of MpicoSys presented  a lecture on the application of Display Smart Cards in security systems (Tiny, Robust Security Devices - Low Power vs. Performance). The presented technologies developed by MpicoSys aroused interest of the expert committee. The workshop was an opportunity for MpicoSys to become familiar with the diversity of R&D work in the field of embedded systems, as well as to make contact with the dynamic industrial and academic environment of the HiPEAC network.

This year's edition of HiPEAC Computing Systems Week was organised in cooperation with the Wrocław Research Centre EIT+. The HiPEAC meetings and projects are financed by the Seventh Framework Programme - the main financial tool through which the European Union supports research and development activities covering almost all scientific disciplines.

For the first time the HiPEAC workshop took place in one of the new European Union member states.
