The Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia - innovativeness, entrepreneurship and dynamic development all combined into one effectively functioning system, constitutes one of the most developed environments of its kind in Poland. Already since the year 2001 PSTP concentrates activities targeted at the development of knowledge based economies through the creation of effective bonds between science and business, as well as stimulation of innovative entrepreneurship in an open environment of partnership cooperation. The PSTP project is managed by the Gdynia Innovation Centre, a municipal budgetary unit acting on behalf of Gdynia's local government.
At the moment on the 6-hectare area of PSTP premises in Gdynia's strict city centre, as well as within the ePSTP virtual innovators' society, operate approximately 80 innovative companies and partners from branches such as biotechnology and environmental protection, ICT, multimedia and industrial design. The Park's competitive environment fosters acquisition, extension and exchange of knowledge on the highest level. The PSTP Bio-Lab Centre is distinguished by its offer, encompassing support for bio-tech companies and individual scientific research, as well as educational projects. The Park EXPERYMENT Science Centre consists of 40 interactive exhibits - addressed not only to the youngest explorers - enabling a better understanding of the world. Millions of patent documents as well as the ins & outs of intellectual property protection are being unravelled at the Park's Patent Information Centre. The list of events taking place in PSTP's conference & exhibition complex grows longer and longer - meetings, video-conferences, trainings, workshops, exhibitions, festivals...
A lot is happening, but it is still not everything. For the year 2012 is planned the opening of new, futuristic premises. As part of PSTP's physical expansion will be founded a Creative Entrepreneurship Centre, focused upon the inspiration of knowledge based economies and encouraging the creation of companies in academic and scientific circles. The new buildings will host complex service & advisory centres for entrepreneurs and research & development activity. The Gdynia local government's initiative will be multiplied by nearly 140 million PLN of EU co-financing.
