SIX Winter School 2011 in PSTP...
SIX Winter School 2011, the annual meeting of the global community for social innovation will be held for the first time in Poland and it will take place on 21-23 November at PSTP. An exceptional group of academics, entrepreneurs, policy makers, strategists, thinkers, activists and innovators from all EU member states will meet in Gdynia to discuss the challenges and direction of the social innovation.
The Social Innovation eXchange (SIX) is a global community of over 3000 individuals and organisations – including NGOs, global companies, public agencies and academics – dedicated to supporting social innovation. It was created in 2008 as a global network of networks and it aims at improving the method which helps societies find better solutions to challenges such as ageing, climate change, inequality and healthcare. SIX hosts annual events (Summer and Spring schools) which gather some of the most influential representatives of business, government and third sector organisations and provide a platform to share expertise, explore issues and develop new solutions for social innovation.
Taking place on 21-23 November, SIX Winter School 2011 – Social Innovation in 2015: What will it look like and how can we achieve it? will focus on development of social innovation in the post-global-financial-crisis Europe. The event is organised as part of the Social Innovation Europe initiative launched in partnership with European Commission earlier this year. With traditional “speeches and lectures” kept to a minimum, participants of varying background and experience chosen from across Europe’s 27 member states, will have an open space for learning and collaboration. It will be also an opportunity to continue establishing a pan European, cross-sector social innovation network.
For the very first time SIX’s event will be held in Poland and Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia, as the place that inspires innovation, cross-sectors collaborations and creation of new ideas, makes a perfect venue for the social innovation networking. Choosing Poland as a meeting place is also a tribute to Diogo Vasconcelos, community’s late Chairman and an aficionado of Poland, who suddenly and tragically died in July.
SIX Winter School 2011 is organised by Social Innovation eXchange (SIX) in partnership with Gdynia Innovation Centre, Dialogue Café, and Shipyard.
